Prayer of the Day
Let us pray. O God of grace and glory, we remember before you today our brother, Vern. We thank you for giving him to us to know and to love as a companion in our pilgrimage on earth. In your boundless compassion, console us who mourn. Give us faith to see that death has been swallowed up in the victory of our Lord Jesus Christ, so that we may live in confidence and hope until, by your call, we are gathered to our heavenly home in the company of all your saints, through Jesus Christ, our Savior and Lord. Amen
Psalm 121
I lift my eyes to the hills. From where does my help come?
My help comes from the Lord. The maker of heaven and earth.
The Lord will not let my foot be moved.
The Lord who keeps me will not slumber.
The Lord who keeps Israel neither slumbers nor sleeps.
The Lord is my keeper. The Lord is my shade at my right hand.
The sun does not strike me by day nor the moon by night.
The Lord keeps me from all evil. The Lord keeps my life.
The Lord watches over my going out and my coming in.
From this time forth and for evermore.
Romans 14:7-8
None of us lives to ourselves, and none of us dies to ourselves. If we live, we live to the Lord, and if we die, we die to the Lord; so then, whether we live or whether we die, we are the Lord’s.
